I know that our scheduled teacher collaboration time on Mondays has an impact on families. We often get questions about our irregular Monday schedule.
The answer lies in our belief that “the best way to improve student learning is to invest in the learning of the adults who serve them.”¹
On November 3rd, our teachers spent the day with nationally recognized educator and author Bill Ferriter, learning how to make the most of their Monday collaboration time to have the greatest impact on student learning.
Bill focused on two key ideas: deepening teachers' understanding of the essential skills and knowledge every student needs to learn and finding new, more effective ways to support students who need extra help or are ready for greater challenges.
These are the important conversations happening in teacher teams across our schools during Monday collaboration time. We deeply appreciate the time our families and community have given us for this important teamwork. I'm also incredibly grateful to our teachers for their commitment to professional learning, even with so many other demands on their time.
Every minute of collaboration matters as we work to deliver on our promise to Design Success for Every Student!
